Health and Nutrition Benefits

Skin Health

Young and elderly skinCollagen is one of the most important structural substances in our bodies, accounting for 25% to 30% of our bodies’ total protein; 75% of our skin is collagen. Collagen is a key component for radiant, healthy skin, and maintaining the integrity of the extracellular matrix is essential for a youthful skin appearance. Skin health is affected by age and a host of external factors. As we age, our bodies lose the ability to make collagen, causing it to break down. Loss of collagen leads to a collapsing dermal layer, and this contributes to wrinkles and loss of elasticity. The environment also affects our skin, and UVA/UVB exposure induces skin damage and loss of collagen.

Nippi Collagen helps to promote healthy, radiant skin by nourishing our bodies with the nutritional building blocks required to improve skin structure. Collagen is an essential building block for skin. As we age, our innate reserves of collagen are gradually depleted, resulting in a noticeable lack of skin firmness, elasticity, hydration and luminosity. Marine collagen peptides have been shown to effectively penetrate the stratum corneum to the epidermis and dermis, contribute to the activation of fibroblasts and accelerate collagen synthesis. Collagen peptides can have a profound effect on the biological regulation of the skin and have been shown to boost new collagen production.

Nippi Collagen is a bioactive peptide that improves skin properties to achieve optimal skin condition. In particular, collagen contains much larger amounts of the amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline than many other proteins. Nippi Collagen embraces all of the benefits of “beauty from within” and is proven to impart hydration and vitality to skin, hair and nails while delivering elasticity. Multiple skin clinical studies have been carried out, highlighting the numerous positive effects of ingesting Nippi Collagen, including:

  • Increase in the water-absorbing capacity of the stratum corneum
  • Increase in skin’s capacity for water absorption and retention
  • Improved smoothness and elasticity for dry, aging skin
  • Minimize the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles
  • Reduction of UVB-induced skin damage

Scientifically Proven

Research on ingesting Nippi Collagen has shown that it significantly improves facial skin qualities such as moisture content and relative elasticity, and works to activate fibroblasts and accelerate collagen synthesis. Clinical studies have reported that the ingestion of Nippi Collagen peptides increases the fibroblast density and the diameter of collagen fibrils in the dermis. Fibroblasts are the principal cells of the dermis that are responsible for generating connective tissue and allowing the skin to recover from natural and photo-aging damage. In a recent placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial, ingestion of Nippi Collagen over four and eight weeks resulted in improvements in facial skin condition (68% increase) including minimizing fine lines, wrinkles and uneven appearance of skin. Additional results from the trial showed there were significant improvements in skin texture, tone and smoothness, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Prevention of UVB-Induced Skin Damage

Abstract/General Overview: Marine collagen peptides were administered to hairless mice at a dose of 0.2 g/kg body weight/day, and UVB irradiation was repeatedly performed at 0.3 mW/cm2 for six weeks. Repeated UVB irradiation induced the formation of wrinkles, a decrease in the water content of the stratum corneum, hyperplasia with a thick epidermis and a decrease in the amount of type I collagen in the blood. The study showed that in mice that ingested collagen peptides, the water content of the stratum corneum was significantly higher and UVB-induced skin damage was reduced. Moreover, when marine collagen peptides were administrated, no significant hyperplasia was observed and the amount of type I collagen did not decrease. These results suggest ingested collagen peptides suppress UVB damage or promote recovery after it. Tanaka et al. Effects of collagen peptide ingestion on UV-B induced skin damage. Abstract/General Overview: Randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind test – clinical research was undertaken to examine effects of collagen peptide ingestion on ultraviolet-induced skin damage. The results suggest that daily ingestion of marine collagen peptide suppresses the skin damage induced by repeated UVB irradiation. Additionally, the results suggest that daily ingestion of Nippi Collagen peptide significantly suppresses the inflammatory skin response induced by UV irradiation.
